Hershey’s Whoppers, The Original Malted Milk Balls, are the perfect treat to grab before watching a movie! These malted milk balls are covered in milk chocolate. The candy is shaped as a small, round ball about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. They are sold in a small cardboard candy box, in a larger box that looks like a cardboard milk carton, or in a "Fun Size Variety" (a tube-shaped plastic packaged sealed at the sides and contains 12 whoppers weighing 21 grams).
In 1939, whoppers were first introduced in the market. They were originally called "Giants," which is ironic because the product is described a small, round ball that is 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Whoppers were first sold unwrapped. It was sold two for one cent. After the creation of cellophane wrapping machines, Whoppers were packaged and sold for 5 for 1 cent. At that time, they were also known as "Fivesomes." Sometime between 1949-1952, Whoppers candy was introduced for Easter. They differ from the traditional Whoppers in that they were egg shaped and have a speckled candy shell. In 2000, Hershey introduced Mini Whoppers. In 2006, Hershey introduced Strawberry milkshake flavored Whoppers. After that, they introduced Reese's Peanut Butter Cup flavored Whoppers.
