Hershey's mounds is inspired by the Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company's candy called "Konabar." "Konabar" was a blend of coconut, nuts, and chocolate. It was made at night when the air was coolest, and it was sold fresh, door-to-door the next day. In 1920, the creation of Hershey's Mound's candy bar was based on their inspiration of the "Konabar." The outside of the candy was overed with dark chocolate, and the inside of the candy is filled with sweetened coconut.
This is the sister product of Almond Joy. If you like Almond Joy, you will definitely love Hershey's Mounds candy bar. Like Almond Joy, coconut is in the center of the candy. The difference is that Mound's are topped with dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate, and it also has no almond in its center.
