100 GRAND is milk chocolate bar with soft, chewy caramel and crisped rice inside. It used to be called a $100,000 bar, and it is produced by the Nestle Company in the United States. This candy bar weights 1.5 ounces and contains 190 calories. The good partis that it is low in cholesterol and sodium. The slogan, "That's Rich!" fits perfectly to the product.
This product was introduced in 1966. Its major influences were the hottest programs on TV that took place in the 1950s. The hottest programs at that time were quiz shows like The $64,000 Question, 21, and The Big Surprise. These program sparked the idea to create the $100,000 bar. In the 1980s, the bar was changed from a 1 piece bar to a 2 piece bar. The name was later changed to "100 Grand" bar in 1985 because that term was a very popular at that time.
In a 1997 commercial, a man asks a pageant contestant, "What would you do with 100 Grand?" and the contesntant says, "I'd eat it." This became one of the most popular commercials in history.
